Privacy Policy

Link Up Social Inc.
Link Up is operated by Link Up Social Inc. ("Link Up", "we", "us"), a company incorporated in Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Link Up, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it.
If you have any questions about this policy or about your information, contact us at sebastien@link-up.life.
1. Who this policy applies to
Link Up has two kinds of users, and we collect different information about each:
Organisers create an account and use the Link Up app to make plans.
Responders are people who receive a plan through a link and respond to it. Responders do not need an account, and we collect much less about them. When you respond to a plan, a notice on the plan itself tells you what will be collected and who will see it, and links to this policy.
This policy covers both.
2. Information we collect
If you create an account (organisers)
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you choose to provide one for notifications
- An identifier from Sign in with Apple, if you sign in that way. Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your real one; we do not receive your Apple password or any other Apple account information.
- A device push token, if you enable notifications, so we can send them
When you create or respond to a plan
- Plan details you enter: the title, date and time, place, approximate cost, dress note, and description
- Responses: the first name a person enters and whether they selected "in" or "out"
- Group membership: if you save a group after a plan, we store the names and contact details of the people in it that you have entered or that they have provided
Automatically
- Basic technical information: device type, operating system version, app version, approximate region derived from your IP address, and the time of your requests
- Basic usage information: which screens were opened and which actions were taken, so we can understand whether the product works
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your precise device location
- We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or calendar
- We do not collect payment information — Link Up is free
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use advertising identifiers
3. Why we collect it and what we do with it
We use your information to:
- Create and operate your account
- Create plans, deliver them to the people you share them with, and record responses
- Send notifications you have asked for — that someone responded, that a plan is coming up, or that a plan has changed
- Reply to you when you contact us for support
- Understand how Link Up is being used so we can improve it, and identify and fix problems
- Meet our legal obligations
We do not use your information for any purpose other than those listed above. If we ever want to use it for a new purpose, we will tell you and ask for your consent first.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
4. How we obtain your consent
We collect, use, and disclose your personal information only with your knowledge and consent, except where the law allows or requires otherwise.
When you create an account, you consent to us collecting and using the account information described in section 2 in order to provide the Service. You are shown a link to this policy before you complete sign-up.
When you respond to a plan, you consent to us recording the first name you enter and your response, and to that name and response being shown to everyone who has the link to that plan. This is explained in a notice on the plan itself, before you respond.
Notifications are a separate, optional consent. We only send push notifications, emails, or text messages if you have asked us to. You can withdraw that consent at any time without losing access to the rest of the Service.
Optional information — such as a phone number — is exactly that. You do not have to provide it, and the Service works without it.
Withdrawing your consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at sebastien@link-up.life, or by using the relevant setting in the app.
Withdrawing consent to notifications simply means we stop sending them. Withdrawing consent to us holding your account information means we can no longer provide you with an account, so we will delete it and you will lose access to your plans. We will always tell you what the consequences of withdrawing consent are before we act on your request.
Some information cannot be withdrawn retroactively — for example, if you responded to a plan, other people who already saw that plan may have seen your name.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run Link Up, and only to the extent they need it. Currently these are:
- Supabase — database and backend hosting
- Lovable — hosting the Link Up website and web pages
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and delivery of push notifications through the Apple Push Notification service
- Third-party messaging providers — sending notification emails or text messages, where you have asked for them
- Third-party analytics providers — basic usage analytics
We require our service providers to protect personal information and to use it only for the purposes we have engaged them for.
We may also disclose personal information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Link Up, our users, or others.
If Link Up Social Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Information visible to other people
Plans are shared by design. If you respond to a plan, the first name you enter and your response are visible to everyone else who has the link to that plan. Do not enter information in a plan that you would not want everyone in that group to see.
6. Where your information is stored
Link Up Social Inc. is based in Canada. Our service providers may store and process personal information outside Canada, including in the United States. When information is held in another country, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to law enforcement and authorities there.
We take reasonable steps to ensure our service providers protect your information to a comparable standard.
7. How long we keep it
- Account information: for as long as your account is active, and for up to 30 days after you delete it, after which it is permanently removed from our active systems. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis within 90 days.
- Plans and responses: for up to 12 months after the plan date, so that groups can see their history, and then deleted.
- Support correspondence: for up to 24 months.
- Technical and usage logs: for up to 12 months.
We may keep information for longer where we are legally required to.
8. Your rights and choices
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your account and your personal information
- Withdraw consent to notifications or to optional information you have provided
- Ask questions or complain about how we have handled your information
To delete your account and your data, use the delete account option in the Link Up app, or email sebastien@link-up.life. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.
If you responded to a plan without an account, you can ask us to remove your response and your name by emailing sebastien@link-up.life with the plan link.
To turn off notifications, change the notification settings in the app or in your device settings, or reply STOP to any text message we send.
We will respond to any access or correction request within 30 days, at no cost to you. If we cannot give you access to some information, we will explain why.
9. Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first at sebastien@link-up.life. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and give you a substantive response within 30 days.
We will investigate every complaint. If we find that a complaint is justified, we will take appropriate steps to put it right, including correcting our practices and policies where necessary.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada:

10. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls on our systems, and hosting with reputable providers. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner without undue delay if a breach of our security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to you. We keep a record of every breach of security safeguards involving personal information under our control.
11. Age requirement
Link Up is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has provided us with personal information, contact us at sebastien@link-up.life and we will delete it.
12. Beta
Link Up is currently in beta testing. Features change frequently, and the information we collect may change as the product develops. We will update this policy when it does, and material changes will be communicated to account holders.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. If we make a material change, we will notify account holders by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
14. Accountability and contact
Link Up Social Inc. is responsible for the personal information in our custody, including information transferred to service providers for processing. The person accountable for our compliance with this policy is:
